pregnantAnte-natal Care

We are keen to see all our own ante-natal patients during normal surgery times and share their care with the hospital and the community midwife.

Family Planning

All doctors and nurses are fully qualified to give family planning advice during normal appointment times. We do not have separate family planning clinics. We also offer a coil fitting service.

Baby Clinic

Weekly on Tuesday between 2pm and 5.30pm with the health visitor - please book an appointment. The purpose of the clinic is to answer queries, have your baby immunised or weighed and to give advice to parents about any problems. If you would like to come at a different time please phone the surgery number and ask to speak to the health visitor to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Fortnightly consultations are also available with a doctor on alternate Tuesdays (between 3.30pm and 4.30pm) and Thursdays (between 10.30am and 11.30m), please telephone for an appointment.

Normally the health visitor will send you an appointment for developmental checks and reminders about immunisations. Immunisations are normally carried out on Tuesdays between 2pm and 5.30pm or by the practice nurses.

chdCervical Smears

We strongly encourage all women between the ages of 20 and 65 to have a cervical smear every three years. Arrange an appointment with the nurse at your convenience. We have an automatic computerised recall system for patients. If your smear showed an abnormality you will be asked to attend more frequently.

Minor Surgery

These procedures are performed by the doctor and nurse at the end of morning surgery.

Anticoagulation Clinic

We are keen to monitor all patients taking warfarin and run clinics on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon.

Smoking Cessation

We offer smoking cessation advice and support— please make an appointment with the practice nurse.

bpWart Clinic

This is held twice a month on Wednesday afternoons and is run by the doctor.

Well Person Checks

It is important to have regular check-ups with your doctor or the nurse to discuss your lifestyle and advise on ways to minimise your health risk factors. This service is free and willingly provided.

Medical Certificates

If you are absent from work for three days or more you will need to complete form SC2 (SC1 if self-employed). For absences of seven days or more, you will need to see your doctor who will provide you with a doctor’s certificate.

Chargeable Services

Medical examinations for private purposes, the issuing of private medical certificates and other private services carry a fee determined by the British Medical Association. Please ask at reception for further details.

Referrals

Your doctor will write a letter to the appropriate hospital department for referral. In urgent cases she/he will arrange an immediate appointment by telephone. If you need to see another of the health workers such as the community psychiatric nurse, the counsellor, the social worker, the osteopath, dietician or the district nurse the doctor can arrange this. In some cases, referrals can be sent electronically.
